Life

This fall my life takes a change. My youngest is off to college...for April and I we are officially "Empty Nester's" whatever that means...I will say that life has taken it's twists and turns over the years and if you'd asked me 30 years ago if I would be here I would've looked at you like you were crazy. I wouldn't trade it for the world though.

Life has been much harder than I could have ever imagined when I was young whipper snapper. It seems like time goes so slow when you're young and so fast when you get older. Enjoy things while they last...Jake and I went out and played golf today...nothing special just a nice round of golf between a Dad and his son...I wish we had more of those days...Make no mistake, I am happy he's off to college, one day that kid could do some really special things...he's crazy talented. But, I will miss the little things....But then again, it really is the little things that make life fun isn't it :)

Enjoy it while it lasts....

Whew...

The play went of pretty nicely...We had a few boo boo's but it was really good. We had a nice turn out and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves. A special shout out to Sheryl Trezzo....we have got to give her props for making the great lasagna. One more performance to go and this year will be a wrap. Remember, if you want a copy of the Christmas 101 DVD check they back table while they last :)

Nervous Excitement!

We had a nice run through last night for our play. The kids did great and pretty much remembered their lines. Tonight's the big night and I am printing the programs as we speak. Talk about nervous excitement starting to build :)

Last Day

Today was my last day of teaching. I got a pleasant surprise when a student I wasn't expecting to pass showed up for the exam with all his make up work complete and ready to take the test. Sometimes, students really exceed the expectations we have for them. That is always cool to see.

Enjoy your summers kids. The next school year will be rolling around in 86 short days. (Not that I'm counting or anything.)

I am so nervous!

O.k., this is going to be a huge weekend for us that is true. I am really looking forward to the message because I just know how it is going to help people make some big time changes in their lives. But I am really nervous at the same time. Not for me, I am used to playing, singing, and speaking in front of people. I am nervous for Jake. This will be the first time my 14 year old is stepping in with the house band and playing bass for us.

The boy is a pretty solid bass player. He's been playing it for a few years and has a great ear for music but this will be his first time playing in the band.

It's always harder on the parents isn't it?

Kids Ministry

My wife and I were sitting at the dinner table tonight and she was asking me to imitate some of the characters from our kids ministry program. I laughed and of course I did it. I can never miss the chance to make her smile.

I have to say I am really impressed. We purchased the curriculum from empowering kids (www.empoweringkids.net) and let me tell you it is really sweet! There are some hilariously funny scenes and the kids seemed to really come out of our kids church last weekend looking like they were having a great time.

As a Pastor that is a huge thing for me because one of the four main reasons people don't go to church is that there is nothing for their kids to do, and what there is for the kids to do is boring. Seeing our kids laughing and having fun is a good thing. I can't wait to see what is going to happen with our kids in the coming months.
